How the day is chosen
The day the new-moon tithi is running at sunrise. Rites for ancestors are done in the afternoon, so the Darsha Amavasya is the day whose afternoon falls in the tithi; it is shown under the date when it differs.
Dates and times are for Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, India. Another town can differ by a day when a tithi changes close to sunrise. You can change the place above.
