Why this date
Bhadrapada Shukla Ashtami runs from 22 Sep 2012 14:09 to 23 Sep 2012 12:16 in Thāne, Maharashtra, India.
The festival is kept on the first day on which this tithi is running at madhyahna (midday). Here is that moment on the day before, the day itself and the day after:
- 22 Sep 2012 · madhyahna (midday) at 12:30: the tithi had not begun
- 23 Sep 2012 · madhyahna (midday) at 12:30: the tithi was already over
- 24 Sep 2012 · madhyahna (midday) at 12:29: the tithi was already over
This year the tithi was running at no madhyahna (midday), so the festival goes on the day it was running at sunrise.
Dates and times are for Thāne, Maharashtra, India. Another town can differ by a day when a tithi changes close to sunrise. You can change the place above.
