How the day is chosen

The fast is kept on the first day whose midday (the middle fifth of daylight) the full-moon tithi has reached. When the tithi begins later in the day, the fast moves to the next day. The full-moon day itself, named by the tithi at sunrise, is shown under the date when it differs.

Dates and times are for Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Another town can differ by a day when a tithi changes close to sunrise. You can change the place above.
